Towards global worship

Our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II regards Nikolaus Groß as a patron for the following intercessions and prayer intentions of the Catholic church worldwide: The family, the world of labour, journalism and the fight against all forms of racism.

The fact that basic human values such as Solidarity, Subsidiarity and Personal dignity, that political enlightenment and the fight against all forms of racism are of central importance worldwide, both in the Ruhr area and in Buenos Aires and in other continents, is underlined by:

Das Internet eröffnet als weltweites Medium der Kommunikation den Zugang zu einer globalen Information über das Lebenswerk von Elisabeth und Nikolaus Groß. Es verbindet das Bistum Essen durch die kirchlichen Hilfswerke, durch die Partnerschaften mit den Bistümern Hongkong und Kattowitz und durch die Missionare aus dem Ruhrgebiet mit Menschen auf allen Kontinenten, die sich in ihrem Verantwortungsbereich für die Grundwerte und die menschliche Würde einsetzen.

So wird das geistige Erbe des deutschen Widerstandes und der christlichen Blutzeugen zu einem Samen für die Weltkirche im 21. Jahrhundert und weit darüber hinaus.

Die Hoffnung auf eine weltweite Verehrung von Nikolaus Groß steht daher am Ende eines Weges, der von Niederwenigern, einem kleinen Ort im Ruhrgebiet, über die Feier der hl. Messe im Gelsenkirchener Parkstadion, die Eröffnung des Prozesses der Seligsprechung im Dom von Xanten bis hin zur Seligsprechung am 7. Oktober 2001 führt.
